Barrett, 95, Lawrenceville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021. Paul worked for the GTE Telephone Company and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include several nephews and nieces.

Carl Norman South SULLIVAN Carl Norman South, 86, of Sullivan, formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Dec. 18, 2021, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Sullivan County to Earl South and Kathryn (Bolenbaugh) South. He was a 1953 graduate of Carlisle High School and had gone on to ISU.

He was employed at Essex Wire for 37 years, and in 1981 he received the Award from United Technologies Essex Group for extraordinary management effectiveness. After retirement they spent their winters in Alabama. Dick was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church, a life member of the Sullivan Elks, an avid golfer and a member of the Rinky Dinks. Preceding him in death are his parents; and siblings, Mary Frances Irwin, Virginia Snyder, Patricia Hesler, Barbara Gluth, Garry South, and John South. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rosalee (Byrn) South, whom he married on Nov.

8, 1967; sons, Todd (Anita) South of New Lebanon, Troy South of Plainfield, and Shawn (Emily) South of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Adison South, Ashton South, Logan South, and Connor South; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Piper Bud J. Piper, 65, formerly of Vincennes, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Bud was born May 19, 1956, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, one of ten children born to Cecil M. and Dorothy (Acton) Piper.

He was a graduate of Red Hill High School and began a career as a contractor, Bud Piper Construction, building homes and remodeling. He was the driving force in the development of Sonoma Place subdivision, and he built many new homes for families in the area. He married Radonna Moyer and they built their life together for nearly 35 years. Bud was a member of Life Church in Laurel, Mississippi, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bud is survived by his wife, Radonna Piper of Laurel; his children, Travis Piper and his wife, Andrea, of Vincennes, Kristin Kent and her husband, Seth, of Battle Ground, Amber Piper of Laurel, and Taylor Cotten and her husband, Ashton, of Heidelberg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Dayton Piper, Hadley Piper, Kaydence Kent, Kynnedy Kent, Brantley Eddy and Finnleigh Cotten.

He is also survived by his brother and sisters, David Piper and his wife, Twyla, of Bridgeport, Illinois, Cleora Gillespie-Weger of Flat Rock, Illinois, and Dorothy Laughlin of Bridgeport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Piper; his brothers, Ron Piper, John Piper, Cecil Piper, Robert Piper and Jim Piper; and his sister, Carol Heath. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday at Duester- berg-Fredrick Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his family in the Sumner, Illinois, Cemetery.

Wilson Goodwin RALEIGH, North Carolina Wilson Goodwin passed peacefully surrounded by family at home on Dec. 16, 2021, at age 86. Bruce was born and raised in Vincennes to Anna Mae Waters and Royal Goodwin. He was a Purdue graduate and an Air Force veteran. Bruce made his best decision by marrying Frances (Lutrick) Goodwin on Dec.

18, 1960. He was a loving husband of nearly 61 years and a wonderful and patient family provider. His work was in computer programming and software architecture. He loved music and, as a member of the Benson Memorial United Methodist Church, took great pleasure in playing his trumpet in the instrumental groups. His other passions were bird watching and astronomy.

Surviving is his wife, Frances (Lutrick) Goodwin; two sons, Brian (Nannette) and Brett; and two grandchildren, Emma and Royal Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 29 at Benson Memorial United Methodist Church, 4706 Creedmoor Road.

(Vollmer) Lowe Patty A. (Vollmer) Lowe, 88, a lifelong resident of Vincennes, passed away at 11:33 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2021, at Willow Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Vincennes. She was born on Oct.

31, 1933, to the late Gilbert and Elizabeth (Theriac) Vollmer. Patty was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes. After high school, she married the love of her life, Thomas Lowe. They spent 53 years together, happily married, before he preceded her in death. Together they had three children, Tim, Ted, and Sarah.

Patty was a lifelong member of St. United Church of Christ in Vincennes. Her passion was serving the church, and she did so in various ways. She served as a Sunday school nursery teacher, sang in the sanctuary choir, served on the CE committee, the Guild, and also helped as a cancer pavilion volunteer. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had been for over 50 years.

She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served a term as president. In her spare time, she enjoyed macrame and doing word search puzzles. Surviving Patty is her son, Ted Lowe (Christie) of Vincennes; daughter, Sarah Lowe of Vincennes; great-grandson, Dillon Lavely; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; son, Tim Lowe; sister, Marilyn Vieck; brothers, Marvin Vollmer and Carl Vollmer; and her grandson, Jason Lavely. Visitation for Patty will be held from 10:30 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Frische-Mouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Patty and her family. Daryl J. Harris BICKNELL Daryl J. Harris, 81, of Vincennes, passed away Dec. 17, 2021, at Good Samaritan in Vincennes.

Daryl was born April 18, 1940, in Bicknell the daughter of Raymond and Frances (Tomson) Harris. Daryl graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in teaching and worked as a music and history teacher for the North Knox School Corp. Daryl had a love of animals and was very devoted, especially to cats. Daryl was a member of St. Lutheran Church and the Knox County Humane Society.

Daryl is survived by a sister, Kathy Dotson of Vincennes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Frances (Tomson) Harris. Suzanne Catherine (Ryder) Kratochvil TUCSON, Arizona Suzanne Catherine (Ryder) Kratochvil, 73, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2021, at her home in Tucson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Kratochvil; brothers, Bob, Jim, Dick and Darwin Ryder; and a sister, Margaret Anne (Ryder) Kimmons.

She is survived by a brother, John, and a sister, Rose Marie (Ryder) Bauer, both of Vincennes; another sister, Judy Ryder of Tucson; two granddaughters, Amber and Britini Kratochvil of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. Suzanne loved envisioning beautiful spaces for people and worked in furniture sales for many years. She was a TMC Hospice volunteer. She loved animals, especially her little dog, Cooper. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved decorating her home and several trees each year to celebrate.
