Billy H. Barmes, Richard Alan Davisson, Shirley R. Ryan, Charles Roy Walls

Billy H. Barmes

Billy H. Barmes, 91, of Ocala, Florida and formerly of Knox County, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

He was the son of Arthur and Mildred (White) Barmes. Billy graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois where he was a member of the NCAA gymnastics team. Bill married Margie Putnam in 1952 and together they farmed and raised cattle in Beal just south of Vincennes. He served on the South Knox School Board, Knox County Fair Board, and served as Bishop of the local Mormon Church for seven years.

Bill is survived by his present wife, Patricia; four children, Joni Chappell, Bart Barmes, Andy Barmes and Connie Anderson; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margie; a brother, Bob; and sister, Betty; two children, Paula and Barry; two grandchildren, Nathan Barmes and Michelle Chappell; and one great-grandchild, Garin Morawe.

A private graveside service will be held.

Richard Alan Davisson

Richard Alan “Rick” Davisson, 69, of Vincennes, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1950 in Vincennes to Elias Woodrow “Woody” and Ruth Marie (Detty) Davisson. Rick was a member of the North United Methodist Church and worked in the propane gas industry for many years. He served in the U.S. Army field artillery earning the rank of sergeant and was a member of the American Legion and 40 et 8.A 1969 graduate of Lincoln High School and Vincennes University, he also attended Indiana State University.Rick was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University fan and was a master of trivia for his friends.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Nancy (Arthur) Davisson, whom he married on July 21, 1979; his sisters in-law, Cheryl Margolis and her husband, Allen, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Anita Perkins and her husband, Chris, of Vincennes; nephews Pat C. Rooney of Florida, and Levi Perkins and his wife, Christina, of Vincennes; nieces Christie Ruppel and her husband, Trevor, of Vincennes, and Rhonda Forker and her husband, Charlie, of Florida; and great-nieces and nephews Jaxston Ruppel, Oliver Ruppel, Ashlyn Rooney, Adilynn Perkins, Henry Forker, and Natalie Forker.

Preceding Rick in death were his parents and a niece, Nicole L. Rooney.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Ray Tromley officiating.Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Richard Davisson.

Shirley R. Ryan

Shirley R. Ryan, 85, of Vincennes, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020.

Born on Oct. 18, 1934, she was the daughter of Herman and Beulah Hawkins Smith. Shirley had retired from Walgreens after 35 years of employment. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and had enjoyed helping out with church activities. She had been a member of variousladiesauxiliaries, VFW, Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Altar Society and the American Legion. Shirley married Thomas D. Ryan on July 3, 1954and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2000.Shirley never knew a stranger and would help anyone. She was funny and had a way with young children. She was a joy to be around.

Surviving are her daughters, Rosalyn Snyder and her husband, Perry, Renee Brasseur and her husband, Tom, both of Vincennes; her grandchildren, ChristopherLavelyand his wife, Elaina, of Vincennes, Travis Snyder of St. Louis, Jordan Brasseur of Miami, andCalyssaLankford and her husband, Tanner, of Vincennes; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son, Tom Ryan Jr.;sisters June Wheatley, Barbara Pyle, and Donna Young; and brothers Bill Smith and Herman Dale Smith.

The family would like to thank all those that looked after Shirley — her coworkers at Walgreens, neighbors past and present, all her cousins, nieces and nephews, the Sixth Street McDonald’s staff that looked after her on her daily visits, Trent Auto which went above and beyond, even going to McDonald’s to help her find her keys. And finally, Colonial Assisted Living, Good Samaritan Hospital and GentleCare Nursing Home, which helped her on her final days on earth.

She will be missed but not forgotten.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday at Fredrick and Son Funeral Home, 313 Church St. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until he hour of services on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 100 S. Third St., Vincennes, IN 47591.

Charles Roy Walls

Charles Roy”Chuck” Walls, 85, of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community.

Born on July 13, 1934, in Jasper, he was the son of Raymond Lafayette and Florence Elizabeth (Holder) Walls. Chuck had worked as a meat cutter at Red & White Grocery Stores in Vincennes. After retiring, Chuck and his wife, Shirley (Smith) Walls, moved back to Jasper, and he worked at Kmart for 10 years before retiring again. He was a member of the Vincennes First Christian Church. During the mid-1950s he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; his children, Mark Kimmel and his wife, Anne, of Greenville, Karen Robling and her husband, Brian, of Jasper, and David Walls of Fort Pierce, Florida; his sister, Virginia Mutchman of Greenwood; his grandchildren, Erik Robling, Danielle Schulthies, Mason Kimmel, and Meredith Lissegardh; and his great-grandchildren, Everly Robling, Jameson Robling, Hutson Schulthies and Hadlynn Schulthies.

His parents; his son, Scott Walls; and his sisters, Phyllis Mehling and Alberta Robinson, preceded him in death.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on June 22 at the Parklands, 800 W. 15th St. in Jasper. A graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes will be announced at later date. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
