How many Porsche 911 GT3 Touring were made? ›

The 911 R was produced in small numbers, but due to the touring package only being offered later in the production cycle, the 911 GT3 Touring is (it seems) the rarer car, it is believed there were just 47 UK RHD examples delivered from the total production volume of around 600 units worldwide.

The whole point of the Touring nomenclature should really imply that it gets the GT3 powertrain, but with a setup that's more oriented towards street driving and road trips. But it's actually just a GT3 without a wing. Everything else is the same. Hence “GT3 with Touring Package.”

Problems with the 991.1 GT3's 3.8-liter engine were apparent right from the start. Shortly after the release of the car, Porsche issued a recall for all GT3 models in March 2014. That notice came as a result of loosened screw joints on the connecting rods. The issue ultimately caused two cars to suffer engine fires.

The 911 GT3 with Touring Package is no less performance focused. With manual transmission, it passes the 100km/h mark in just 3.9 seconds, with a maximum speed of 320km/h.

A sportscar that Porsche test driver Jörg Bergmeister calls “the best-handling 911 road car ever on a racetrack” – although, being street-legal, the 911 GT3 RS is every bit as happy on the road.

Likely because of the heavier PDK transmission, the Touring weighs in at 3,164 pounds, 38 pounds more than the standard car, a difference PDK more than makes up for with quicker shifts. The GT3 without the Touring package gets a sizable rear wing and matching front splitter to increase downforce.

With almost 1500 miles in 6 weeks, I would say the GT3 is a great daily driver. Mine is a Touring and I plan to be the highest mileage GT3 Touring on the planet.
