How much of yourself do you show on social media?๐Ÿ‘€ Recently, Iโ€™ve been wondering if I should post more personal stuff on social media, which for me would include family and children photos. We all love to see into othersโ€™ lives, especially those we follow on socials, and itโ€™s true, being personal and letting followers into your life is a fast track to growing online. BUT. I donโ€™t post personal images on my Instagram feed or other profiles for a reason. Namely, my kids. Iโ€™d like to offer them some degree of privacy and keep them offline as much as I can until theyโ€™re old enough to decide for themselves. Even though they do provide great entertaining social media content!๐Ÿ˜† And thatโ€™s ok, thatโ€™s my choice in how I use social media. I do, however, post candid images, family snapshots, and behind-the-scenes images on my stories, simply because they disappear after 24 hours, and Iโ€™m comfortable with that. (Obviously, they can still be screenshotted, but reallyโ€ฆWHY would anyone do that??๐Ÿ˜ฎ) So if you love the family shots, the personal images, and the glimpses into my private life, keep an eye on my stories.

Social media seems to be everywhere these days. Though the days of social media pioneer Myspace are now long gone, weโ€™re constantly hearing about trending topics on Twitter, laughing at social media fails and many people are obsessive about keeping up with their Facebook news feed. Even if Facebook and Twitter arenโ€™t for you, thereโ€™s still blogging, Vine, Snapchat, and even LinkedIn, among many others. Even businesses have recognized the value of social media for connecting with customers and selling their product, as well as quickly updating users about problems affecting their service.Social media has become a major factor in the world. For many of us, it is how we keep up with what our friends are up to, even if theyโ€™re on the other side of the planet. It has also played a big part in world events. Twitter was used to organise protests and report on events during the Arab Spring, for example. If weโ€™re honest, most of us use social media for less than upright purposes ourselves. We use it to show off our holidays and what adventures we have planned for the weekend. Almost everyone presents an idealised version of themselves on social media, whether by detagging unflattering photos or implying their life is more exciting and glamorous than it really is. Never compare yourself negatively to your friends on social media as youโ€™re only seeing what they want you to see! There are lots of reasons to love Social Media Day. One of our favorite things about social media is that it is ripe for discovery. It gives everyone the ability to have a voice. They can document their daily activities, share their opinions, and showcase their talents. Up-and-coming entertainers have often found stardom through social media. Social media opens up a world of possibilities for people, and that is something very exciting! It is also a great place for people to find out news and information. A lot of people will turn to Twitter for the latest updates, rather than heading to news websites, as used to be the case.So how best to celebrate Social Media Day? The answer is obvious! Let your networks know and spread the knowledge. Start a hashtag, upload a photo, update your status. You certainly wonโ€™t be alone as social media is still spreading like wildfire all over the world. Whatever you do, wherever you are, donโ€™t forget to celebrate.Another way to celebrate Social Media Day is to try out some new platforms. There are many different platforms out there that are simply waiting to be discovered. TikTok has taken over in recent times. If you are yet to make a TikTok video, now is the perfect opportunity for you to do so! You may think that you have tried all of the social media platforms out there, but there are literally hundreds of them, and so there are bound to be plenty that you have not explored yet. Give them a try. You never know; you may end up with a new favorite!#SocialMediaDay#socialmediaday2023#socialmedia

Time for a social media detox?Do you ever think about the time you spend consuming social media? Fact is, Iโ€™ll admit it, in some ways Iโ€™m addicted. Whether Twitter (or X as we canโ€™t get used to calling it now), Linked In, Instagram or occasionally even Facebook I keep going back, I keep scrolling hoping to find that little gem of information; and most of all I keep wanting to get the little buzz that comes from every like or comment. Iโ€™ve always thought that as a communications professional I need to be present. I need to understand not only how the different channels work but also why they work. I tell myself that as a sports fan, as someone fascinated by US politics or simply as a reader (see my extra Instagram books profile) that I need social media to keep up with the world. And you can add to that list the notion of staying in touch with all the relevant business ideas and thinking available through Linked In. I tried but failed to gel with Tik Tok (Iโ€™m not the target demographic). I signed up to Threads but donโ€™t go there and my only posts on Facebook are because I allow my Instagram posts to appear there too. It isnโ€™t sustainable. In fact, I donโ€™t think it is healthy. And you canโ€™t do everything. Once upon a time social media felt exciting, fresh and attractive. They provided community, new ways of communicating, of feeling like your voice might mean something. But now? Twitter is either an echo chamber of your own views or a cesspit of hate and discord. Linked In has interesting stuff but too much of it. I see so many articles Iโ€™d like to read but know I donโ€™t have time (and here I am adding to that noise) and Facebook is, well, largely pointless today, isnโ€™t it? Even Instagram has meant it feels more important to capture a moment than actually to enjoy being in and experiencing the moment. Too much of social media has been taken over by brands, with their ever-slicker advertising and marketing posts and even sports clubs seem to have employed people to churn out a ton of similarly overly positive and ultimately vanilla banal content. I should walk awayโ€ฆ but like I said, Iโ€™m addicted. Iโ€™m not a fan of resolutions, but for 2024 I am going to try to spend less time on my phone, less time on these channels and more time present in the world around me. How do others get it right? Do you find you have a good relationship with social media or are you similarly under its spell? Would love to hear how others manage.#socialmedia #resolution #detox

19 Creative and Funny Images For Your Social Media and Messaging AppsI have always thought of social media and the internet in general as a medium of self-expression and creativity.I never understood why would anyone put something boring and predictable, like a picture of themselves, as their profile image when they can get creative and put anything imaginable out there. For me at least, the profile image is an opportunity to get creative and do things out of ordinary.https://lnkd.in/dZxE8-VA

Social media is dead. That headline was published on a major media site yesterday. The article claimed that group chats and messaging were the assailants, but I don't think so.Let's explore this murder mystery and get to the bottom of who the killer REALLY is.First the facts:#1: We don't see posts from as many friends any more. Where did they go? #2: We spend less time on social interactions and more time on media consumption. "Regularly posting content is now largely confined to content creators and influencers," said Insider writers Amanda Perelli and Sydney Bradleyโ€”the folks behind the article that was just published. Here's what I think is happeningโ€ฆ The major social platforms are moving back to the olden days of media.Back in the pre-internet days of the 1990s, everyone watched television. The biggest TV shows of the were ER, 90210, Frasier, and Friends. What did they all share in common? Yes, they had serious drama or hilarious comedy. But they also could hold an audience and keep people coming back for more. And that meant they were massive money makers for their networks. All those eyeballs sold a lot of ads.And we're seeing this exact same thing happen right now on social media.Creator-focused media is now the primary focus of Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter/X.On Facebook, where this Gen X'er spends a lot of time, I'm lucky to see 3 out of 9 posts from friends. The rest seem to be โ€œsuggestedโ€ content on random topics from random people. These posts seem to be "engineered" to spark the same kind of drama, humor, or curiosity that those 90s shows did.Could it be possible that the social platforms are intentionally engineering a new experience? Could that experience be eradicating the word "social" from "social media"?I'm here to tell you it's not just possible, but it's likely been the plan for many years. Maybe this is why Instagram founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Kreiger quit Facebook in 2018.So now we have a strong motiveโ€”more ad revenue. I'm personally taking a counter stance. But first, this new normal does present an opportunity for smart content creators and marketers. Now here's my current take. I strongly believe people want real opinions and perspectivesโ€”not just shock.I also believe that people want true and meaningful interactions, not just random broadcasts. Maybe Insider is into something. There is something different about social media. But itโ€™s not group chat and messaging, itโ€™s the algorithms that were designed to maximize monetization. Do you see the change? Will you alter your content plans? What are your thoughts? I'd love to know.#DigitalMarketingSaudiArabia #digitalsaudi #digitalarab #Digitalmarketingriyadh#jadakingdom #digitalmadina #digitalmarketingtips #digitalmarketingexpert #digitalmarketingstrategy #digitalmarketingagency #digitalmarketing2023 #digitalmarketingcourse #digitalmarketingservices
