If you have heard of bulletproof coffee, upgraded coffee, butter coffee, etc… you know there are many ways to make a cup but the base is always quality coffee, grassfedbutter, and liquid MCT coconut oil.

If you haven’t ever heard of bulletproof coffee you might be wondering why in the world anyone would make up such a dumb name for a cup of coffee and then why anyone would add butter and coconut oil in a perfectly good cup of coffee.

I agree, the name is dumb but I didn’t make it up. However, the coffee is amazing, both in taste and for mental/physical reasons.

Our First Time Tasting Bulletproof Coffee in Scottsdale

In April of this year, in Arizona, we had our first cup of bulletproof coffee at a juice bar in Scottsdale. At the time, we didn’t know why anyone would add butter to a cup of coffee, but we knew all of the health and fitness people in SF were freaking out about it. So we closed our eyes and took our first sip. To my surprise, it wasn’t disgusting. In fact, it tasted like a perfect vanilla latte.

Again if you’ve never tried a bulletproof coffee, I completely understand if you are still thinking to yourself, that’s great that it tastes good but why are you drinking it… The science is a bit beyond what I could get into in this post, but the overall idea is that it helps with mental clarity, speeding up your metabolism, and an extreme energy boost.

There are a ton of articles surrounding all of the benefits, so I won’t even get into any of that. I will say, for myself and pre-pregnancy Megan, we have been blending up a cup of bulletproof coffee for breakfast almost every morning since having it in Scottsdale and have never had the levels of energy and focus we have with a cup of bulletproof. There is also a rumor that it boosts your fertility. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I know it didn’t hurt ;).
