Super rare Indian 841, you don't find'em like this too often! So you probably can't believe your eyes, but yes its true, up for auction is a genuine legendary/super rare 1942 indian model 841. Still sporting its license plate from Fort Leonord Wood, and with its shaft drive, and a transverse mounted V twin motor! Simply unreal for the year! A pure work of art in many ways, its hard to imagine that in the early 1940's the Indian gods could have created such a masterpiece. The motorcycle equivalent of a Monet or Van Gogh! Only some 900+/- made,very few exist.. These practically never come up for sale,(most are in historical museums) maybe...maybe once every 3-5 years(last complete one on ebay was quite awhile ago) one scarcily comes on the open market.(in April one sold for $45K) usually they are snatched up fast by private parties behind closed doors. Here on this ebay auction anyone who takes action soon enough will have a equal shot at it. .About as complete as can be with the exception of the air cleaner (I have just happen to find one and will be included!), its the real McCoy here!. Was Recently taken out of long term storage and after all fluids were changed, she fired right up! Runs, but curently lights are not working. In response to this request, Indian designed and built the 841 The Indian 841 was heavily inspired by the BMW R71 motorcycle, as was its competitor, the Harley-Davidson XA.[2] However, unlike the XA, the 841 was not a copy of the R71. Although its tubular frame, plunger rear suspension, four speed transmission, foot operated shifter, hand operated clutch and shaft drive were similar to the BMW's, the 841 was different from the BMW in several aspects, most noticeably so with its 90-degree longitudinal-crankshaft V-twin engine and girder fork.[1][2][4] Also unlike the R71 and the XA, the 841 used a heel-and-toe shift pedal with heel-operated upshifts and toe-operated downshifts.[4] The bike also had a low compression ratio of 5.1:1, meaning that it could be run on low-octane fuel, crash bars to protect the cylinders, 18-inch wheels, two separate gas tanks for a total of 5 gallons of available fuel and newly designed girder forks for better shock absorption.[7] In order to reduce costs, the new V-twin shared several internal components with the existing Indian Sport Scout, resulting in the same bore and stroke of 2.87 in × 3.50 in (73 mm × 89 mm).[3][6] The Indian 841 and the Harley-Davidson XA were both tested by the Army,[1][4][8] but neither motorcycle was adopted for wider military use. Vintage German Motorcycles of Riverside CA is please to offer this 1941 BMW R12 solo motorcycle for sale. This is motorcycle was restored years ago in Germany and spent some time in Ireland before coming to the USA. This is a running rideable motorcycle, it runs and drives. First lets start with the history of the motorcycle. The frame is marked 29868 on the head stock of the frame and typenschild. This is NOT the correct frame number, someone has stamped this into the frame. It is a reinforced frame and they didnt have numbers, those frames came without numbers and Wehrmacht units would stamp them back into the frame OR somewhere along the road people would stamp them in. The motor number is 100% original and has Incredible history. This motor was delivered to II. Kavallerie-Regiment 9 in Fürstenwalde. Here is the email from BMW archives. The engine number 11677 belongs to a BMW R 12, which was manufactured on December 19th, 1938 and delivered on December 22nd, 1938 to the II. Kavallerie-Regiment 9 in Fürstenwalde. The motor has perfect stamped original numbers and a waffenamt right on the W of the BMW raised logo, please see the photo. The motorcycle has a very nice solid frame and solid Original fenders on it. I am almost positive the fenders are 100% original. Almost all of the bolts on the bike are RIBE, Verbus or NSF bolts. Very few are garbage bolts. The drivers seat is the correct seat and the rear passenger seat is a Original Sozius sattel, the early type which is really cool! These are getting harder to locate and this is a perfect nice original one. The magneto works well and it appears to be charging. It is not know what was done in Europe on the magneto. It is a real BOSCH D2B. The handle bars controls are original and throttle from what I can see. The headlight is not the correct headlight for the motorcycle. The speedo is a correct newer reproduction speedo. The saddle bags are NOT Included, I will include new ones not the old ones seen in the photo. PLEASE BE WELL AWARE of this . I will replace the bags with new ones from Old-timer Garage. The rear saddle bag holder is a new reproduction holder. The license plates are new painted ones from my plate painter. The motorcycle runs ok with these dual carbs. I would replace them with a New SUM carb which can be purchased from us here at Vintage German Motorcycles. We can sell you an original SUM Carb if you want one? Once you replace the carbs the motorcycle will run perfect. I will include with the purchase of the motorcycle an original BMW R12 Intake manifold for the SUM carb so all you need to buy is the carb and intake heat tubes. The Intake manifold I have is in fantastic condition and will bolt right on. The transmission works well, it shifts into all gears, the rear drive works good and no noises come from it. Overall its a good solid bike with some fantastic WW2 History. The motorcycle is located in Riverside CA and available to see in person. The motorcycle is sold on a clear Bill of sale, no title. This is an ex- Russian army bike converted to look like a ww2 BMW. It has the high quality Polish made emblems, BMW knee pads, R71 style dual fishtail exhaust, R75 fenders, head/ tail lights, knee/ cylinder guards, and data plate, new battery, new spare tire, aged front license plate marked to the Wehrmacht, and good sidecar cushions/ waterproof cover. The bike has a clear TN. title(got plates with no problems whatsoever), the transmission and rear end work, the engine was rebuilt recently with new seals and the carburetors were rebuilt also. The bike ran up until a week ago when the electronic ignition went bad, but you can get this on E-bay for $75. A move forces sale as I cannot afford to transport it to where I'm going nor can I spend money on new parts. Also, the generator was charging up until the ignition went bad so it should be fine. There are some small dents and scratches, as can be expected from a 44 year old military bike but the condition overall is good. This sidecar rig would be perfect for reenactments and it gets huge amounts of attention wherever it goes. Shipping is very reasonable with U-ship (they shipped it when I bought the bike a few years ago). The bike has a 4 speed transmission with reverse and is shaft drive. All new belt, hoses and thermostat changed. Fluids changed to include transmission. New voltage regulator, starter solenoid and fuse box. Generator puts out correct voltage. Oil pressure measured steady at 50-55 psi at speed.Runs and drives as a Morgan should with great gear box (typical Moss) and a strong motor which starts right up. No wheel shimmy, brakes work well and all safety equipment and electrical works well. Interior and Covers: The black leather top is very nice with no cuts or tears. The tan canvas "Stayfast" top bow cover and full "Stayfast" tonneau cover are in like-new condition. As a four seater, the seats are adjustable fore and aft making it possible for taller or more stout rivers/passengers. The top and all side curtains appear original. The plastic windows are yellowed and need cleaning or polishing for realistic use. The Connley leather is in great shape with a very nice aroma. The wool carpets are very durable and have a quality presentation. Includes rubber Morgan floor mats to protect. Exterior: There was a repaint of the original color at some point, likely many years prior that has not survived very well. There is still plenty of luster and shine, but up-close, there will be many points of notice for chips, cracks, scratches and the like. Frame and suspension have the usual minor surface rust from driving but no serious issues or cracked frame. Some surface rust here and there have been touched up. No rust holes in body panels and the wood is the original wood to the car. Chrome is average with nice shine.NOTE: ***The Lucas Accessory Fog Lamps are no longer available with the vehicle*** Tool kit is included with jack, 2 wood hood props and extra belts/hoses. condition.This vehicle has arrived from a trade-in and actually has a very recent local owner to Fredericksburg VA. The Morgan Factory Chassis Record shows the Green color as the original option, however, the interior has received a change from Black leather to tan Connley leather with Wilton wool carpets. Excellent tires all around with great road control for the age. Mechanical Work: Engine freshened up with new rings, bearings, water pump and complete valve job including new springs/valves/guides. Rebuilt fuel system including carbs, lines, fuel pump and fuel tank. Rebuilt complete brake system with all NEW wheel and master cylinders, rebuilt front calipers/shoes/pads/flex lines. All new belt, hoses and thermostat changed. Fluids changed to include transmission. New voltage regulator, starter solenoid and fuse box. Generator puts out correct voltage. Oil pressure measured steady at 50-55 psi at speed.Runs and drives as a Morgan should with great gear box (typical Moss) and a strong motor which starts right up. No wheel shimmy, brakes work well and all safety equipment and electrical works well. Interior and Covers: The black leather top is very nice with no cuts or tears. The tan canvas "Stayfast" top bow cover and full "Stayfast" tonneau cover are in like-new condition. As a four seater, the seats are adjustable fore and aft making it possible for taller or more stout rivers/passengers. The top and all side curtains appear original. The plastic windows are yellowed and need cleaning or polishing for realistic use. The Connley leather is in great shape with a very nice aroma. The wool carpets are very durable and have a quality presentation. Includes rubber Morgan floor mats to protect. Exterior: There was a repaint of the original color at some point, likely many years prior that has not survived very well. There is still plenty of luster and shine, but up-close, there will be many points of notice for chips, cracks, scratches and the like. Frame and suspension have the usual minor surface rust from driving but no serious issues or cracked frame. Some surface rust here and there have been touched up. No rust holes in body panels and the wood is the original wood to the car. Chrome is average with nice shine.NOTE: ***The Lucas Accessory Fog Lamps are no longer available with the vehicle*** Tool kit is included with jack, 2 wood hood props and extra belts/hoses. So much history in this roadster. Perfect for someone who will appreciate the driving quality and age patina of various areas. Our favorite is the sheep-skin leather hood belt. Certainly original and makes for a more complete look than a brand new belt!
